Ostap Shutko is one of the most famous Ukrainian musicians of our time. His concerts are sold out and each his appearance on the stage is a real musical event. His charm, acting and wonderful communication skills with the audience allows him to have a success not only among professionals but even among unprepared audience.
Ostap Shutko was born in a family of famous Ukrainian musicians. After graduating with honors from the Lviv Krushelnytska Special Music School and Lviv Lysenko Higher Music Institute (now the National Academy of Music) he completed postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School in London and the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Great influence on the musical personality of Ostap Shutko had such outstanding musicians as I.Bezrodny, L.Shpiller, M.Estrelya, S.Sondetskis, Z.Bron, A.Lisy and many others.
After returning to Ukraine Ostap Shutko worked in the State chamber ensemble "Kyiv Soloists" and helped it as a leader to win the Grand Prix at the International Competition in Vienna (Austria). Also he taught violin at the TchaikovskyNational Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv, becoming the youngest teacher in its history (started teaching at 22).
Ostap Shutko was a prize-winner at international competitions in Vilnius (Lithuania), Weimar (Germany), Przemysl (Poland), Barcelona (Spain), Kiev (Ukraine) and received scholarships of the President of Ukraine, The Queen of Spain, UNESCO.
He was the founder and first violin of "Ukrainian quartet", concertmaster of the international youth orchestra in Bayreuth (Germany) and the London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
Since 1993, he plays in a duo with his mother, a prominent Ukrainian violinist Lydia Shutko. He is the founder of U-Trio and for five years he was playing in a duo with the famous guitarist from Austria, Leo Witoszynskyj.
Ostap Shutko performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Great Britain and other countries. His recordings are regularly broadcasted on the Radio and TV. He has released CDs in Ukraine, Italy and the USA.
Ostap Shutko is awarded with honorary distinctions from the Academy of Arts of Ukraine, the organization "Amnesty International", Pope Benedict XIV and many others.
Many composers have dedicated their pieces to Ostap Shutko (Nicola Vizalli, Donald Yu Mun Ching, Carson Cooman, Victor Kaminski, Bogdan Frolyak etc.)
Currently Ostap Shutko is the President of Concert-producer center "Individualis", which organizes many events in Ukraine.
